| Class #3 We've covered
the 4 basic dowsing instruments. Remember there
are others, we've just covered the one's most
often used in the United States. We've covered
the 3 methods of dowsing: Field, map, and informational.
We have not talked about "need" or "do
good" they are pretty self explanatory.
We are now ready to talk about the 2 critical
conditions. The first is "get permission."
There has been a lot of talk on the list about
getting permission. One group feels that it is
absolutely necessary. The other group doesn't
care about it at all. In fact they think it is
entirely unnecessary. There is undoubtedly many
dowsers (water-witchers) that have never heard
of using the Can I? May I? Should I? they dowse
just as well. So why ask? It gives you time to
think about what you are doing. Our scientific
advisor, Ed Stillman, when working with Dr. Matthew
Kelly on the computer testing dowsers found that
using the CMS statements seemed to calm the brain.
When I first started to go to the convention basic
dowsing school permission was not taught. If I
am not mistaken it was in 1983 or "84 when
it was first taught in Vermont. If you choose
to use the permission statements and I hope that
you do, they mean:
Can I? Do I have the skill to do this particular
dowsing job?
May I? Do I have permission from the correct
or authoritative person to do this job?
Should I? Do I have permission from the highest
source I know (for me it means God) to do this
job?
A yes answer from all three is required if you
choose to use this method. A good way is to build
this into your dowsing statement.
How to ask the right question is a GUIDE to help
you be more accurate in your dowsing. We have
what the scientific world calls an Ideo-muscle
response. This is a muscle response controlled
from the subconscious. When our subconscious is
given instructions either verbally or by our actions
the muscle response goes into action. I can best
explain this by asking if you drive a car almost
every day to the same place by the same route.
Have you ever taken the same route but wanted
to go to another location? Did your car automatically
go to your regular location unless you were sharp
enough consciously to drive to the location you
wanted. It has happened to me many times. This
is teaching your subconscious by non-verbal actions.
You can also teach your subconscious by verbal
request or commands. In other words you are teaching
your subconscious habit patterns. These habit
patterns are then transferred to our muscles and
we dowse. This is the mechanical part of dowsing.
I believe that the subconscious and the super
conscious are two sides of the same coin. I call
it the unconscious. I also call it the High Self
or the Holy Spirit. I believe that this unconscious
has the ability to tap into reams of consciousness
that the conscious mind cannot. You may call these
realms of consciousness what you will. Walt Woods
calls it "Your dowsing system". You
do not have to believe what I believe. That is
your free will.
Be sure that you are getting good Yes and No
responses. They need not correspond to any others
--just so you know what your responses are and
that they are consistent. Give your instrument
(your subconscious) instructions as to what you
want it to do.. If you use the permission statements
this is the time to use them. How can you get
permission to do something if you inner self doesn't
know what it is you want to do or ask. Talk to
your dowsing instrument as if it were a very young
child. Remember you are not programming the instrument,
you are programming your own inner self. Your
inner dowser (or High Self) does not speak English.
You may have to explain certain terms or expressions.
The inner self communicates with us through CONCEPTS,
SYMBOLS, IDEAS, HUNCHES, DREAMS, VISIONS, and
INTUITION. Then it is up to our conscious mind
to interpret them. How you interpret them depends
on how you were raised, your environment, the
culture you grew up in, your education, your experience,
your wisdom, Please, please, just because you
learned to dowse do not put your common sense
or wisdom on a shelf. Ask your questions one at
a time.
When you are new at dowsing it is good to write
the question down and then read it several time
to be sure it says what you really want to know.
Ask if your inner self understands the question.
If not reword it or explain what it is in simple
language. Writing the question down makes it more
academic and takes some of the emotion out of
it. Give your inner self the help you can. Please
do not always be testing.
The more work you do before hand the better answers
you will get. Be careful of your wording. Words
meanings have changed over the years. Be sure
that your inner self understands the words that
you use.
Once I was map dowsing for a man for gold. I
told him he would find a gold vein about 300 feet
west of a very large tree on his property. The
only problem was my inner self was using my foot
as the "feet" and not the 12 inch measure
that is used in the USA as standard for one foot.
If you live in a country that uses the metric
system you would probably need to explain it.
Be careful about using words like up or down.
Is downtown and uptown the same place?
Another important thing is to get your conscious
mind out of the way. This seems to be the hardest
thing for newcomers to dowsing to do. Besides
writing the question , a good way is to use the
"I wonder"? technique. Before dowsing
say to yourself "I wonder what the answer
is going to be? Then just let it flow through
you. I suggest you try this, you might be very
surprised at how your dowsing accuracy will improve.
Do not be afraid to ask a lot of questions. If
any answer seems not to make any sense, go back
and start over. Ask if you are asking the right
questions. Ask if your inner dowsing self understands
the questions or if more information is being
required.
WHAT WHEN WHERE WHO WHY NOW HOW
You cannot carry on a dialogue with your dowsing
instrument. It only answers year and no, at least
at first. Using charts you can get more specific
answers. Why and how might not be important most
of the time. Who, what, where, are inherent in
the question. In other words, if you ask did it
happen at eight O'clock last night that is the
when question. If you ask did it happen on 28th
and Broadway that is the where question: was it
male? would be the beginning of asking the who
question. Always ask NOW. Time is not important
to our inner selves. I was told that I was not
always going to live in California. I asked if
I were going to move. I got a yes answer. My next
question was NOW? I got a no answer. It was two
years before I left California and another two
before I sold my house there.
If you get a hunch or a song keeps going through
your head ask if your inner self is trying to
give you a message? If you get a yes start asking
questions. Our High self really tries to help
us but we need to listen and do our share.
There is so much more to asking the right question
but I think I'll let you ask me questions and
i can be more specific. Keep your questions concise
and precise. Keep them simple. Learn all you can
about what your dowsing for before you begin.
Use the famous W"s
WHAT WHERE WHEN WHO WHY NOW AND HOW
ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK ASK
I am often asked what I ask for. I ask that my
inner self always tell me the truth even if I
don't want to hear it. I ask that I am not allowed
to do anything that is harmful to anyone or anything.
I ask that I can work through Universal Love.
I know I am a human being and that I make mistakes
but if the love of the Universe works through
me, I hopefully will be a better person. I give
thanks everyday that I am allowed to use this
gift we call dowsing. The rest of the week will
be to answer your questions.
